Power problems

I just bought a 1989 Bronco II 4X4 with the 2.9 and auto-magic (Matic) transmission. The problem I have is that if I run my heater blowr motor on anything over the first notch with my headlights on my ammeter will show my battery discharging at idle. Thinking voltage regulator, what do you guys think?
Thanks,
-Phil

Power problems

Check the belt for tightness. Check the wiring at the alternator and starter solenoid battery terminal for bad connections. Check the output voltage of the alternator while it is loaded, it should not drop too far below 14v. If the connections are good and the belt is not slipping but it drops way below 14v then the alternator is at fault. The voltage regulator is inside the alternator.
