Replacing stock Manifolds

I'm getting ready to replace the stock manifolds with a set of headers and would like to know if it is easier to remove the stock (rusty) bolts with the engine warmed up or cold. I have been hitting them with PB Spray so that will help too.

Thanks,

From a scientific perspective, you'd want to do it cold. Cold metal takes up less volume then hot (expansion and contraction). If its cold, there should be more room in the threads. However..for some reason putting a torch on a bolt loosens them up, so without experience I can't say. Installation of headers is to put on when cold, and then retorque after each of the next 2 or 3 warm up cycles.

Definatly cold, if they are aluminum heads. The aluminum with expand more that he steel stud thus locking it in place. I just put headers on my 03' V10 with no problems at all with the studs. I was worried because I had 20 of those buggers to take out and the history of them breaking was something to loose sleep over, but all went well.

I have been told, try to losen them cold, it they don't wanna go, try running the engine, get it good and hot then try, if the come loose, let it cool then take them right out.
