Does anyone know where I could get replacement rubber seals for the back side windows for my 86 Bronco II? Also, I am having a problem with it flooding (black smoke) on a regular basis. It does this at any speed and at idle. It will always smooth out but it aggravates me. I have replaced the Oxy. sensor, the throttle pos. switch, the MAP sensor, the fuel pressure regulator, egr and removed and cleaned the throttle body and the egr port. I read some earlier posts about the same trouble but hope someone has a trouble shooting techniqe that I can try. Excuse this long post from a newbie!!

If the rear window seals are anything like the windshield trim pieces, you'll have to go to the dealer or get fortunate and find a junk yard with them used. My guess though on the used part, is that by the time you find them, pull the parts and reinstall on yours... they wont be much good. If touch up is what you are after I would try black (sponge top bottle) shoe polish. I did that on mine and it still looks good after 10-11 months...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Dec-02 AT 10:49 PM (EST)]You might want to check to see if the float in your carberator to see if it sticking or if it is bad because i had the same thing happen with my ford F-150 pickup truck and I would be going down the highway and end up having to walk home or waiting for it to start.Or u might just a have a bed fuel injector that needs to be replaced.

Not good news. I checked with the local Ford dealer today about the rear side window seals. Seems they come attached to the windows as all one piece. He says Ford does not sell the windows anymore. He said to check with an auto glass company which I did, they said 1 window would cost around $2000.00 (not a misprint). After I got up from off the floor the guy should me how to reseal the black molding with a product they use. (black urethane) I bought a tube ($7.50) and used it just around the top seal. I will wait for rain and see if it works. WARNING!!!! Use rubber gloves if you use this stuff. Had to use Clorox to get my hands clean. Gas would not touch it.

Call these guys:
Auto Glass Express
7056 S. State Midvale, Utah
(801) 561-4527
They blow everyone else away on all kinds of auto glass.
My guess it they would be able to get the glass for a fraction
of that $2000 estimate. And no, I don't work for them but I have
bought glass from them twice

The reason the glass is so expensive on BII's is that the rear glass is curved at the top. Bent glass costs money because it's rare. As for the urethane, it will more than likely solve your problem. Then, just to get the look, use the plack shoe polish (great idea by the way, and works wonderfully).
