None! The Excursion did not get the 3V motor or the coil front suspension. For a lot less money change the front clip to the 05 style if you like but there is no reason to buy new right now unless you just have to have new.

A couple of items are noticibly different on my 05 versus my 03 x. The ride is much more solid and stable, the 6.0 fuel mileage is down around 14, the new front end does get a lot of attention as it is even more prominent than the 03's, the new 6.0 is not as peppy as my 03 but man-o-man that new car smell does something to my brain that makes me feel like I'm on top of the mountain driving down the road.

Not doubting you, but seeing how Ford has made absolutely no changes to the frame and suspension on the X since it's introduction in 2000, I don't understand how this could be. I guess maybe in '05, Ford actually started tightening all of the nuts.

Some things that are missing from the '05 that may be on your '03 (if an early one) are:

1. glovebox light;
2. under hood insulation;
3. under hood light;
4. lights in doors (not just reflectors);
5. rubber mat on the bottom of the center console.

The 6.0 also got numerous improvements in the '04 MY. The 6.0 also got numerous improvement in the '05 MY, but those improvements are not yet available on the X.

Any chance that the improvements you mentioned will be available on the X by 12.31.04, or are they just for the superduty? I currently have an '03 6.0 and thinking about the '05. I have 78k and not really any problems other than the current $1.99 fuel. Also, might be last year for tax credit.

I spoke with a dealer and he said no improvments are on the slate for the EX, it will ride out it's life as is.
Also I would think you 05 would ride better, it's new! Put new springs and shocks on your older EX and it will ride just like the 05, things wear out over time.

Did the 6.0 in the '05 X get the same improvements as the 6.0 in the '05 Superduty? One of the previous post indicated that the X did not get 6.0 updates. Are there any improvements in ride from the '03 4x4?

Why would the mpg be down from the '03 to the '05? I know that my '03 mileage went down with each new flash, but still not sure why. I am putting all of my data on a graph and it will be interesting to see what happened in 80k and three flashes since July '03, almost all hwy miles.
