Stubborn 4x4
Hey, my 88' F-150 is really stubborn when you try to put it into 4L 
. It shifts between 2H and 4H fine but when you try to put it into 4L it's almost like it hits a stop. Then sometimes it shifts just fine 
. Anybody have any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks.

I've always had some trouble getting 4x4's in 4 low. You are shifting gears that are NOT synchronized inside the transfer case. I've always found it works best to have the truck rolling VERY slowly (like barely moving) while shifiting so that the gears can mesh together.

I have the borg warner manual t-case in my 95, and you have to push down to go from neutral to 4L. I've always put mine in low when I was stopped and never had a problem. The rolling part does make sense, what your trying to do is line them up and it'll slip right in.
