Question 96 250......460 to 7.3

Ok People, Thinking Bout Swapping Gas 460 For A 7.3 Powerstroke In A 96 F-250 Crew Cab ,auto Tranny. Well Gas Still Going Up, Is There Kits, Will Tranny Fit, Whta Bout A Book On Subject?

Have to change computers over. SO when you get a donor engine make sure and get all the computer hardware. I mean everything. Also you will have to change transmissions as the gas tranny will not blt up to the diesel.

I think as long as you get the computer that controls the engine then you will be ok. You shouldjust be able to take out the old computer and replace it. I've never done the swap but talked to people in the past that have and if I remember right that's what they said.

the wiring harness is completely different, you will need all the wiring, motor and tranny, exhaust system, radiator and core support, motor stands and mounts, fuel tanks and fuel lines. you might also want to invest in some sound barrier for the inside of the cab.

might be cheaper and easier to replace the 460, or trade trucks!

thanks alot JIM & 85........................I do like my truck............I think I'll drive slow till I get a nuther truck wif a diesel allready there, that sound like more than I want to chew.
