chip question

I have a 99 ranger 3.0 auto so far I have put on a k&n fuel injection performance kit, jba headers, and jba exhaust. I plan on getting a mass air flow sensor and a chip in the near future. What kind of chip would help me out the most with the things that i have done so far? thanks for any help.

A Diablo Sport or SCT chip, either custom tuned for your application, would work very well. The MAF and headers are the only factors that need the custom program --- and the headers only need it if they set off the check engine light.

Thanks for the help, so the maf would need custom. I have the headers on now and they didn't set off the light.

Yes, the MAF will need custom. Short tube headers usually don't sell off the light. The computer knows the distance between the engine and the O2 sensors. It uses that measurement to accurately read the O2 sensor. Long tune headers, and on rare occasion shorties, throws off the reading. Long tubes can also have a scavanging effect and require the air/fuel ratio to be a tad richer.
