If I already have a "beeping" code reader, is buying a EEC IV Breaker box a waste of money?
Will a breaker box do anything more than code reader can do?
Thanks
i belive a break out box is a device that allows you to test the inputs/outputs of the computer without bacprobing the harness connector. it is not a code reading device.
Reamer my 86 was doing that too, no codes at all, so I just replaced the computer, seeing that there wasn't anything else it could be anyway. I had to give them the old one for an exchange plus 110.00. After installing, I get codes now. my 86 runs better than it ever had since I 've had it.
Really? Thats great! Iv'e replaced just about everything too!
Rebuilt engine 2 weeks ago.
New EGR
New Distributor Body (from Ford)
New cap, rotor, wires, plugs
New Fuel Filters (both of 'em)
New Injectors from 5.0
New air pump
All new emissions check valves and pipe that goes to both heads
New O2
New air filter
Completely cleaned out TB and intake.
TPS voltatge in spec (low and high)
New radiator too!
The only thing in the emissions system not replaced yet is that switch that the vac line from the EGR goes to. (also has voltage going to it too) It is located on the passenger side fender.
Do I get the new brain box from Ford?
You can see it in my gallery. (still can't post myself)
My engine had been rebuilt before I got it, so it must be something having to do with that, thats makes the computer not give out the codes....I've seen some posts here that whats happened too when the computer wouldn't give out any more codes. My exhaust manifolds has been changed too, they no longer have the air pipe that the EFI engines used to have and my Air pump is gone, so my final code is 11 (pass) and the 31 (EGR) (its been replaced and so has the sensor you're talking about) runs good without it so far....be sure to disconnect the battery before installing the computer and don't let it get wet.
