running bad

My 88 bII 2.9 has a miss that gets worse when accellerating. It also idles very rough when it is cold outside. The miss is also much worse when it is cold outside. It was 70 degrees outside last week and it ran much better.
Could there be a problem with the outside air temp sensor? The check engine light is not on. Could there be bad sensors with the check engine light not coming on?
Thanks Bill

The best thing would be to check the computer codes. How many miles on the engine & when did you have your last tune up, plugs & wires? Often a bad plug or wires can cause the problems you have. It is hard to second guess when you do not have all the info .

sounds like plugs to me...that would be the first thing to check...also could be the fuel filter.
