From the 1997 F-series Heavy Duty/Super Duty guide printed 09/1996:
460 Cu. In. 7.5L gasoline V8:
With 5-speed manual O/D transmission:
HP: 245 @ 4000 rpm
Torque: 395 lbs/ft @ 2400 rpm
With 49 States 4-speed automatic transmission:
HP: 245 @ 4000 rpm
Torque 400 lbs/ft @ 2400 rpm
With California 4-speed automatic tranmission:
HP: 242 @ 4000 rpm
Torque: 394 lbs/ft @ 2400 rpm

I have been doing some reserch since I recieved this info and I just don't don't get it. That is a very big motor and those numbers are very low. Now if I was getting great gas milage I would understand but at about 8 or 9 mpg I don't see were the choke point is. I put a chip in it and I am now up to 265hp and 420t. That still bites. My wifes toyota solara get better than that. And bot just try to feed it reg or plus gas and it pings like crazy. I know its a 97 but it only has 38,000mls on it so it would be a shame to sell it. I really would not get anything for it. Anyone have any ideas?
