5.4L engine Performance suggestions wanted
My first post. I just bought a new F150 crew cab with teh 5.4 motor. I would like to do what I can (within reason) to maximize the performance. My first thoughts are a cold air kit (Volant or other?) and a cat back exhaust set up (Banks or other?). My questions are:
1) Are these the best two things to start with?
2) What brand, and specific part #'s, should I consider?
3) Is there anything else I should consider?
This car is my daily car, I simply want to take advantage of any straight forward performance enhancing upgrades that are not too expensive and that will make a difference.
Any advise or other suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.
Jeff
As far as the air intake goes I would recommend a volant its the only air intake that comes with a cold air box that mounts to the factory hole in the fender well so it is truly sucking cold air rather then warm air. Airaid would be next inline as this is what I have in my 99 f150 supercab with a 5.4l and it works pretty good. My brother inlaw has the volant on his 03 Super crew and he said that also maid a big difference. Exhaust I would reccomend magnaflow if you dont want it to be too loud this is what I have on my truck and it deffinatly improved performance and made the truck sound better but not grungy like a lot of exhaust kits out there and the in cab noise was minimal, at least until I put gibson headers and took of the cats but thats probably further then you want to go.
Hope this helps out.
