351W running hot

I put another 351W into the 79 E350 and after about 10 miles of driving the temp goes to 230 and beyond. The engine runs great and was removed from an 86 4x4. Factory 4bbl and various casting # say it is a late 85 build and has a rebuilders tag on it.

I used the distributor out of the old engine.
I used the 2bbl off the old engine along with an adapter just to get it usable until I get around to rebuilding a 4bbl.
Timing set to 86 specs.
I used the old exhaust manifolds.
No vacuum leaks.
Set up as a very basic engine, all extraneous EPA lines removed, plugged, etc.

Radiator appears to be flowing OK but I havent tested it; never any problems with the old engine. Thermostat is a new 180 deg and works fine. Tried different clutch fans including known good one off my 83 F150/351W.

Heating doesnt show up at idle, just when Im doing heavy loading up and down hills. Got about 4000 lbs in the back.

Ive a few ideas I want to run past you guys as well as troll for some more.

1. Distributor curved wrong for new engine.
2. 2bbl and adapter causing a lean condition.

Probably already checked this....but if it's an electrical gauge, did you use sealer or tape on the sender threads? Tends to do some funny things....Assuming it's OK, I'm leaning towards the same two ideas. Timing chain installed correctly? (No excessive advance/retard?) Luck, Mike
