Truck wont start
I have a 2000 F-150 4X2 with approx 159,000. Last night we tried to jump start my wifes car. While on the way home I noticed the RPM's fluctuating. The miles on the odometer display disappeared and had ------ instead, the speedometer stopped working as well. A few blocks later everything stated working again. I drove it home and it worked fine. The truck sat for 30 minutes, when I tried to start it nothing happened. The radio and lights will come on but the motor wont crank. Any ideas of whats wrong? Any help will really be appreciated.

if you hooked you up the other cars while your truck was running, you just fried your alt......never jump with it running , if you have time a you could take the alt apart and clean the contacts where the bushings touch...

yeah kinda sounds like the alt to me, that would cause the the truck to start shutting things down one by one. this happened in my 01 f150, while driving down the street the lights shut off, then the radio, and the guages started messing up then kuput, it was dead. but after a good jump, i was able to drive it for a couple mroe days.
