Bench bleeding a master cylinder

Bench bleeding a master cylinder
I've got the old master cylinder off the truck. I am getting ready to bench bleed the new master cylinder. I don't have a bench vise to hold it while I bleed it. Is it feasible to bench bleed the MC if I go ahead and put it on the truck but not hook the lines? Instead just use the plastic tubing as if it were on the bench?

I was worried I'd really screw something up and have to tow it to the mechanic. Thanks so much for the help I'd hug ya if I could! I hope it won't take me long to do....got bad weather moving in quick here.
