I had a 73 Ranchero that had a 400. The 72 looked the best. A 351 was a common engine.

Torino's came with anything from a 302 to a 428, auto or 4speed manual behind the big blocks. Not sure about the small blocks as for tranny. The big blocks were quick! They even made one with a spoiler from the factory, if my memory serves me right.

What year are you looking at?

We had 2 1974 two doors, 1 1975 four door and two 1976 two doors in the late 70s and early 80s. They all shared two common problems, rust a seemingly soft front suspension. All but one had 400s with C6 transmissions, the one was a 76 with a 460. The 400s (we had) where all 2brl carbs and extremely poor on gas mileage and seemed low on power. The 460 could break traction at 50 mph when floored but it too was lousy on mileage (wonder why). Rust was a HUGE problem with these cars, especially around the rear wheels and the floor. All the two doors had problems with the windows not seating properly when door was slammed shut with lots of air and water leaks.

What year is it? I've owned two in my life. A 1972 Gran Torino that had a 351C auto and 1968 Torino GT that was a 390 4 speed car. Of the two, I want the 68 back, I didn't really like the 72.
