The most clear and detailed illustrations I have ever seen are in the Ford factory shop manuals, available from Helm, Inc. (www.helm.com). On many procedures, Chilton reprints the Ford illustration in their individual manuals. However, it seems to me that the Chilton books are getting more and more "hit and miss" and "go see a professional technician." The Haynes manuals are the most-inclusive and best illustrated books I have seen outside of the factory supplied manuals for dealer shops.

Of course, the factory manuals are expensive but they also often include part numbers for components and mounting hardware. That does prove very useful indeed from time to time!
