Well, I have been thinking about it, and I am wondering of how I can build this thing for hp and torque. Because I know when I take it to my HS reunion, this guy I know will want to race me in his Nova. We can't let him beat me.
So, how can we build this engine? I still want some insane torque number, but getting the hp up there too would be a plus. I might just buy a non running 360/390 that's in better chape so it requires less machining, and I'll save this block for later or just build this one and sell it. I don't know yet.
But any help for my kind of new idea would be appreciated.
If anyone wants to send my a copy of DD 2000 that would be nice too. :P
Well that's not too hard. Just get a set of Keith Craft Stage 2 ported edelbrock heads with CJ size valves and throw 'em on there in place of the heads you have now, and use a Performer RPM intake.
So with those heads, that intake, the Crane 941 cam, and headers in a 410, you're making 449hp @ 5500rpm, and 466ft-lbs @ 4500rpm. Again, torque curve is as flat as a pancake. That should kill that nova in short order.
If you dont feel like spending that kind of money on heads, let me know. I'll run it with ported D2TE's and post the numbers for you.
I would suggest you visit the junkyard and get a 360. It's a good starting point and has a lot of odd FE parts you'll need for the build, including a good block.
Concerning DD2k, sorry, but it's illegal to pirate software. I wish it weren't, but the law's the law, and this is a public forum. You should be able to buy it new for around $40.
Well I can't seen to locate those heads in my edelbrock catalog so any help finding them, and their price would be nice. While your at it, lets run the DD with those D2TE heads to see what we get.
With ported D2TE's, you're looking at 387hp @ 5000rpm, and 451ft-lbs @ 3500rpm.
You can contact Keith Craft with the information on this page. Of course it wouldn't be in the edelbrock catalog, the porting work he does is separate from edelbrock.
So I am thikning about this some more, yeah I know, I can't amke up my mind. Anywho, do they make superchargers for FEs? I am guessing if I ran one of these ideas with a lower compression on the pistons I could pull off a supercharger, am I right? Or would I have to tally revamp the internals? More help please. Thanks.
If you want a supercharger, you'll need a set of forged rods and forged crankshaft. The LeMans rods I mentioned above are forged, and are available from dsc motorsport. The supercharger is available from BDS, www.blowerdriveservice.com
