My wife came out of WalMart the other day and started her 92 3.0 Aerostar. The air conditioning (at least the fan), power windows, radio, and turn signals would not operate, but the check oil, door ajar, battery, and rear ABS lights all stayed on. She slowly drove home on the service drive for three miles and then when she hit a bump in the road everything came on and the dash lights went out. It then was fine all the way to the grocery store and back. Apparently there is a loose connection or something, but given the miles of wire and the multitude of electronic devices in a car, I don't know where to start looking and guess I can't look anyway unless it is screwed up again and stays that way. Anybody ever have this problem and, if so, is there some particular device prone to this problem that I could just change and hope it never happens again?
Thanks, That is a very logical response. All the above conditions occur when the ignition switch is turned to the starting position. If the switch were off a bit it could allow the car to run but still in that mode. (Hopefully the starter was not engaged all that time!!) Also, I had the ignition switch replaced once because it was very difficult to get the key out.
