87 3.0 OIL LEVEL SENSOR

From what I can remember, the sensor itself is held into the oil pan cavity by a simple wire clip that can be easily dislodged from it's retaining groove. Once the retaining clip is off, simply slide the sensor out of the cavity and replace with a new one. The new sensor should have a new o-ring mounted all ready on it. If you are trying to stop an oil leak, you may need just a new o-ring for the sensor. But, most of the oil leaks are from the adapter that is screwed into the oil pan to house the sensor itself. I'm not sure if the adapter seal/gasket is replaceable on the vehicle,so, a good look at the breakdown at the dealership will clew you in as to whether or not you can replace that seal without oil pan removal.
