I have a question about p/s.there is a pressure switch or something on the pressure line going to the p/s rack anybody know what kind of switch this is? Itd leaking p/s fluid and i dont know what it is.Its an 87 with the 3.0. any help would be appreciated
My 88 has it to. To quote from the 88 Aerostar "Electrical & Vacuum Trouble-Shooting Manual" a supplement to the Factory service manual:
"The power steering pressure switch (PSPS) opens when power steering pressure exceeds a specified pressure. This signals the ECA (Elecronic Engine Control) to increase engine idle rpm to compensate for added load to the engine."
fiftynine, was yours actually hooked up. On my 94 there are no wires anywhere that hooked up to mine. I searched high and low, nothing! Anyway mine just started leaking out the top of the switch also, and my Ford dealer said since it wasn't hooked up to just plug it off. I went to my local NAPA store and got a hydraulic hose plug with an O-ring on it. Less than a dollar. Never had a bad day since. Its a 5/16" fine thread. Just like a bolt. Not a pipe thread.
