Hearin A strange noise
Hey folks been noticing a new noise the last few days. Its A ticking noise, power is good, and no idiot lights. It happens when I accelerate and when im just cruising along. It stops when im coasting / braking for A stop sighn ect.But will come back very soft once ive come to A stop. The pace of the tick is fast. My truck is a 2004 Made 5/04. There are two stickers on the valve covers. On the drivers side is a white sticker w/ 2 bar codes and the # 4482/7350/2 on the pass. side is a red sticker w/ model #/ hp/ torque numbers plus 2004 on it. is this an 04 engine? I would appreciate any help with this. If anybody lives west of rochester Ny and would be willing to test drive my truck I would pay for your time. Thanks Mike

Hi lash, the tick dosnt go away after it warms and it slows as i stop. then intensifies as I start going. Come to think of it I have caught a wiff of exhaust latley. Thought it was normal maybe wind blowing from behind.

You might want to check the pipe from the manifoild to the turbo inlet. Mine cracked on the drivers side about 2 inches up from the lowest connection. Black mark on the firewall was a quick giveaway. I was told that if it was not installed correctly they will crack. no leak at first, so it was sealed. Just under a bind. A few thousand miles later and instant crack. Took the dealer 5 hours to fix, two days to get parts.
