My a/c compressor went out in my 1987 Aerostar.
Since I'm gonna replace it I plan to cnvert to 134a. Anyone got any tips/results and parts I need to replace?

There was a lengthy discussion on R12 Aerostar conversion to R134A a few months back. Go to the bottom of the Aerostar page and open page 3 where you will find at least two different discussion threads on converting. Hope you find what you need. If not, ask again.

I had mine coverted about three months ago.Im not happy with it at all.Replaced compressor drier condenser.I wish i would have stayed with r-12.I live in Arizona and when it gets hot above 100 it tapers off bad.Just my opinion.

Hi Folks,
When I had a leak on my 3.0L Aerostar last year, I had it refilled with an R12 substitute called R143a or Isceon. Works very nicely in the Aerostar's system, cooling is great. No conversion at all is necessary. However, I live in Europe (Germany)and I don't know whether Isceon is available in the US. But you can always ask at your local A/C servicestation.
