Brake booster

I am wanting to add a power booster to my 72 F100 2WD. I found a 72 F250 at the junk yard with the mounting bracket, booster and mc and vacuum tree.

2 questions?

Will the 250 bolt up and work?

They want $70, they take off. Is that a fair price?

Yes and yes, too bad you don't have a pick & pull so you don't have to pay them to pull your parts.

I was just gonna say that but wasn't 100% shure.

I do know that all the early 80's trucks used the same cab and mounting points. I just put an 81 F150 cab onto an 83 F250 and had no problems moving all the 250 stuff over. Should be the same for the '72

thanks

Thanks, When I go back I am going to offer to remove it myself and see if they will take $50. It also has the metal door panels they want $20 for the pair and I need to replace my original cardboard ones.

Now what?

Well, I got the booster and bracket from the 250 and it looks like the bracket will bolt up. But, the bracket has a lever built in that has a flat piece of steel that goes into the fire wall and bolts to the brake pedal. The master cylinder is larger than my stock mc. The pictures in the shop manual show a rod coming off the back of the booster and going direct to the brake pedal. This one, the rod connects to the lever system on the bracket.

Will all this work? Do I need the brake pedal from the donor truck also?

Or, will I be better off finding the right set up for my F100?

Yes it will work, there were two styles of boosters. One has the rod and the other has the lever that you've got. I'd grab the pedal too, there is a difference but I can't remember exactly what it was right now. It was either the pin location and/or the brake light. I have both style boosters:

Oh I forgot, the MC is bigger because that parts truck must have had disc brakes, should work fine anyway.

the rounded rod is longer out the rear (thru fire wall)than the lever kind.
I ran into this problem with my 76-79 swap.
Pain!

I think ya gotta relocate the hole about 1", but it will work with your existing pedal.

Can't find replacements

Well, I went to Auto Zone and ordered the MC/Booster set for a 72 F250 without adjustable rod. The one that came had a rod from the booster that was about a foot or more long. Way to long to bolt to the firewall bracket. So I took it back and ordered the one with adjustable rod, it came back with a rod that had a screw nut on the end rather than the eye that I need to hook up to the bracket with lever.

Does anyone have any part numbers, Auto Zone can't seem to find the right one. Mine looks just like the larger one in the picture in the earlier post. Getting frustrated and beginning to think someone had changed the one on the donor truck I used.

found replacements

Well, turns out this 72 was made late in production year and a 73 is what fits. Cardone part # 50-3009, good at Auto Zone, NAPA or Oreilly - $99 with core.
