I saw this at the autoshow in NYC, and it was really cool looking, I was impressed. The guy at the show told me they will build it, but i doubt they will, it had options all over it that daily drivers would never use. With about 3-4k of aftermarket parts, you could get your stock expi to look pretty close to this.
All I see are aftermarket wheels/tires, front brush guard, roof rack, and skid plates.
Start with a NBX/FX4 Expedition and add the front guard, wheels, tires, and roof rack.
I have a front grill guard and roof rack on my Expedition already, tires are coming some time before this winter and skid plates hopefully around Thanksgiving.

The photo is very deceiving if your assumptions are correct. However, looking at the tire to fender opening clearance, I would guess that there are different springs or body bushings on it. There is much more daylight underneath than current Expys.
I'd like to put a Safari Rack on my 97 EB. Anyone know of any decent racks for under $500, that will fit on the existing roof rack? So far I'm thinking Yakima for the price and the fact you can use the factory rack to mount. Any other ideas/recommendations?
OK- assuming the "Everest" model is a modified NBX... the headlights are different. Was just looking at some pics of our NBX and the lights have a dark background.
Still don't see anything different about the tail lights.
Ground clearance in photos can be deceiving for sure. Believe it or not, I can actually slide under our Expy. At 275lbs, I'm rather "thick" too.
