Well it seems like this is popular! I just bought my 2000 F-150 5.4 back in July with a little over 48,000 miles on it. About 3 weeks ago this light came on and stayed on. I started searching "The Forum" for clues as to what the problem could be. I tried re-connecting the battery but nothing changed. I saw the several of you were successful in replacing the sensor at the rear diff. After a few days of checking around for a part number and a decent price i was prepared to replace this sensor. Well about 6 days after the light went on and stayed on, it went off and stayed off.
So as I was leaving for work yesterday and started my truck, the light stayed on again. But it was only on during my ride in. When I left work it was nack to normal. So with all of that information I just gave, I guess my question is, do I have a faulty sensor? Possibly some bad wiring? I did think maybe a loose connection but didn't notice anything when I was peekin' around. Maybe I need to look a little closer.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions y'all can give!
Does your truck have Rear Wheel ABS or 4 Wheel ABS?
There are 2 different ways of pulling codes to tell what the problem is.
If it's 4 Wheel ABS you'll have to take it and get it scanned to see what code comes up. If it's just Rear Wheel ABS you can pull the codes yourself.
