My 92 aerstar doesn't want to start. It is not firing what so ever I just replaced the coil and it started and ran fine for two days and now it won't start again. I put a new coil wire on it and still nothing. When I shut the ignition off and take the key out the lights come on and are on high beams. If I turn the lights on after I take the key out Then when I shut it off the lights they go out. It seems to be a intermitting problem. Can this be the rease\on it doesn't want to fire? Or is it the module? How much does it cost for a module? In the haynes it says that to buy one then try it there is a 50% chance that you will need it and of not they don't except exchanges. Don't forget too I am in canada.
Thanks for all the help,
Sean
Yes the engine rotates but will not start. I was told today at work that it is more then likely the module or a fusible link would this also cause the problem of the headlights not going out?
Ok here it is. I have been told that it might be the ign. module. Mine is located on the fire wall(I think my van was the only one in ontario with one) cause I can't seem to find another one in the scrap yard. They are all mounted on the distrubuter. But anyways. Like I said before, the lights will not shut off at all unles I unhook the battery or unpug the ign.module. How can these two be connected? I checked all the fusible links and they are all fine. I then unplugged the one headlight and checked the connectors, they all hace contanuity to ground. Is that right or is there something that is shrting to give me this reading? I need help A.S.A.P. As I have been trying to figure this out for the past two weeks. I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams anywhere and it seems the haynes manual is almost useless. It doesn't even have a wiring diagram for the ign. system even thought it refers to it at the end of the book. Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks,
Sean
