Smile One Last Car

If you was to buy your last car of your life and you wanted very good gas mileage with comfort, what would be your choice? Now remember you are not rich but in the middle class. You are retired.

Hyundai, without a doubt. They are cheap, well made, great warranty, and reliable. Their comfort level is amazing.

I'd say the gas mileage on my Ford truck is pretty good...

...compared to one of those huge strip mining dump trucks!

I guess then I'd have to say I'd just drive my old truck

I would get a re-done 65 Mustang with a few upgrades. The money saved would buy a lot of fuel.

I'd probably have to go with a VW TDi of some sort, probably Passat, maybe Jetta. But, I've never ridden in either one long distance, and my back has never fared well in cars on long trips. I think a Toyota Camry might be a good choice also.

Good luck trying to find a Passat TDI though, they're making new ones but they're very hard to get. My friend was *trying* to buy one and called many dealers, none of them were able to help him unless he ordered one. They said the other dealers wouldn't transfer them unless they had one to trade in return.

So my friend decided to put a few K into fixing up his 96 TDI.

Toyota Avalon, as it is big enough for old men, and could be retrofitted with a padded vinyl roof with convertible bars and wire wheel covers with those nifty gold trimmed whitewalls.

The glaucoma crowd would think it was a new model Grandpa Marquis.....
