need to stop

I need to find out how to convert a '63 Ford F-100 with a 390 and drum brakes all around to disc in front. I was told at one time that I could get all the parts I need to change it over from a '72 LTD. So if someone knows any better way I'm all ears....

I recommend looking up threads that have already been discuss in this forum; Should be able to use any 79 truck & below front dics system below;
This is one of the most common up grades done on Slicks.

Wait A minute a 63 is a single I beam double, semi-eliptic front spring front end. There are no "Bolt-up, Script" parts to make this retro upgrade.

There's no OEM spindle that has a provision for a caliper mount that fits a single I beam the 57 thru 64 uses. At least not bolt up. THere are probably several spindles that could be modified, but it's important to remember that Cars like an LTD have a 5 on 4.5" lug pattern while F Series use the 5 on 5.5" pattern. So using Pass Car parts means you'd need to carry 2 spares and on and on. . . . There are aftermarket Kits for sale that will make this conversion.

The above mentioned 79 & earlier conversion will not work on the single I beam Front Ends. I Know of a few guys who replaced the single I beam with a twin I beam system from a 65-79 Fseries to get PDB & P/S as well as better handling & ride.

Sorry to be the one to rain on this parade, but it's not as simple as just getting later FoMoCO parts & bolting them on to upgrade to disc brakes. At least not with a 64 or earlier truck. Also how did this truck get a 390 in it? does it have some sort of custon engine mounts or what? And how does the tranny mount up?
