in my 77 f2504x4, 351m, there is a round black plastic ball lookin' thing mounted to the fender near the ignition module, two hoses connected to it. one is from the vac. tree on the rear of the manifold, i cant remember where the other one goes(at work right now), but my question is just what is this thing? i know its for vacuum but i dont know what its function is. please help.
It's a vacuum reservoir and it's used to store vacuum. It allows the truck to have extra vacuum for running the various vacuum motors on your truck. On some of the trucks older than yours, the vacuum reservoir looks like a coffee can.
*****. I thought of making a bigger can type out of a Foster's "oil can" but the aluminum would probably collapse. My Folgers comes in a plastic can now.
