Chevy Blazer... *Yuck*

Ok, I don't really feel like searching around for a chevy blazer forum, so I figured I would ask it here. Does anybody know about the transmission swapping? My friend has a 78 chevy blazer with a 350 engine and my guess a standard 350 trans. the trans went out so we are going to swap it. Currently there is a 2 wheel drive 350 in his barn but does anyone know if it is possible to switch the output shafts and adapter plate from the 4wd over to the 2wd trans without a major rebuild?

Are the years of the Blazers the same Could have the Turbo 400, Turbo 350 or the 700R4, make sure the transmission is the same and the swap should be no problem

2wd tranny's won't work on 4wd, unless you are swapping out a 700 for a 350, and then you need a spacer for the trans to adapter.

Yuck

I was wrong a two wheel drive tranny will not work on a four wheel drive. It would require major surgery on the transmission. Your friends best bet may be to get a used one from a local junkyard.
