As in a previous post, I wrote in that I have just purchased a 1991 Extended van, with power everthing...
The driver-side door-lock does not work. The previous owner took it to the dealership to have it fixed, and they tried replacing the lock solenoid in that door, with no results. He was unaware if they tried a new relay or not.
Does anyone know of any common, quick fix for this?
Where are the lock relays located?
It matters not, which we use - the remotes on the keyless entry, the driver's side sitch, or the passenger side switch, all locks EXCEPT the drivers door, operate...
And again, the lock solenoid has been tested good, and was even replaced with a new one, with no results...
Any idea and/or thoughts would be welcome...
I am thinking a possible problem with the relays? Or possibly a problem from the keyless entry installtion (which was a Ford Dealer Installed item.)
Test solenoid in door by putting 12v on it directly and see if it works. If not, might be bad ground, sticking linkage. If it works, then go for the relays.
You can also measure for voltage at the solenoid when you hit the lock button and verify power up to that point. If you have it, look at the gound. If not, trace the line back to the relay.
i had this same problem with my 93, i found with my door open the loks worked, what happend was there was a wire that was geting pinched, see if it works when your door is open or in diferent places etc
