Blown motor
Has anyone had to replace a 5.4L yet?
Employees ran the 98 out of oil and spun a rod bearing. Just curious about a general number to have someone else change it or does anyone have a suggestion about where to get a crate motor. Live in Phx, but stuck in Sacramento. Might have to get a trailer and haul back to the shop in Az.

I put a new motor in my '99 Expy about 2 years ago. I found a complete new motor off of the assembly line on Ebay for $2700. It was '01 motor, so I increased the HP to 330 and eliminated the head gasket oil leak problem also. A crate motor runs about $2500 to 3000. The removal and install wasn't too difficult after I decided I would have to take off the intake manifold to reach the two top transmission mounting bolts. My new motor was complete with a new manifold and I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the new manifold, but the crate motor doesn't come with a new manifold and you wouldn't be placed in that situation. After it was all said and done I figure that I had about $3500 in the installation.
