Just got my new 1705 Superchips and installed it today. I was just wondering for those of you who also have one where do you see the best performance? It is quicker off the line but I guess owning a 250 i will never have the feeling of a sports car from a dead stop. The most notable difference was that when I try to pass someone I can just slowly push the pedal and get better acceleration than when I had to floor it. Basically, I am far from a vehicle "know it all" and just wanted to get some basic idea of where others with the superchips see the improvements so I know everything is working well with mine.
One more thing, my battery was dead after the download and I was told by the guy at superchips who was very helpful that the downloading process puts a strain on a weak battery. After I jumped it I have not had any problems since but make sure your batteries are strong when tuning the computer. Thanks.
I had the SCMT also. The high mode was great, good acceleration, good amount of smoke and ran really well. Liked the way it ran. I did find that I could really push my EGTs through the roof on that setting, even with my exhaust and air filter. I tried towing with the tow mode but my EGTs were high, so I ended up just leaving it in the high mode. You seeing the right results its seems from your explanation.
As for the batteries. A big word of caution. Make absolutely sure the batteries don't go dead while tuning or removing a program. The tuner is locked to your VIN and will not be able to be used again without sending back unless you can restore your truck to stock. You lose battery power and it doesn't complete the tuning or removal of tuning and you are forced into going to the dealer to have your computer re-flashed.
I have read that you get about 50 ft-lbs more torque in the 90hp setting but, you get about 15hp more in the 110hp setting. To be honest I can't really tell the difference between the two settings.
