HI just a quick question or two, can anybody tell me how horses the 4.6 v8 in a 1998 f150 is rated and if the k an n filter is stock, I bought the truck used from an army buddy and i was just woundering any help would be great.
If you do a search here you'll probably find the hp info you're looking for such as at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...ght=horsepower .
And no, a K & N didn't come stock in your truck. It's a pretty popular addition though.
220 hp. K&N is after market. I like mine better than the stock paper. Keep reading the fourms and you will find a ton of info. from everyone. Here is your specs. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/ov...d=1131&src=vip
Thank for the info guys i did alot of looking for the specs other than this site and for some reason i never could find anything. As for the k an n filter i didn't think it was stock(knowing little about that kind of stuff) but i thought i should ask becasue the only stupid question is the one you don't ask, so here is another one for you- I have no ideal how to clean the filter and it probably needs it after sitting idle for a year while me and the guy i bought it from were in iraq so if you could give me some more info on how you guys do it that would be great, and just incase you guys were wondering iraq sucked, I was there was there for 15 months and it wasn't fun, anyway thanks again for the info. mark
Just go to autozone (or whatever is in your area) and get a K&N cleaning kit. It comes with a cleaning solution and spray on oil. You soak the filter with the cleaner and let it sit for a while then hose it off with water. You have to do this from the inside out to force the dirt out of the filter instead of pushing it further into the filter. Let it air dry completely, you can use a fan but no compressed air. Then lightly spray the oil on the filter and let it soak in. Don't over oil the filter or you could foul up the MAF sensor. That's it.
Thanks for all your hard work in Iraq, glad to have you back
thanks triton i really appreciate it, like i said i know little about engines and that kind of stuff, so don't be surprize to see more questions from me in the future. once again thanks and thanks for the compliment on iraq. Have a good day, stay safe, mark
