96 ranger cant access computer

96 ranger cant access computer

truck runs good drives good, check engine light is on, when i plug my computer to it it doesnt even power it up, have had serveral people to try but the is no comunication to the computer, anyone ever have this prob, v6 automatic

Fuse #5 under the dash powers up the data link connector where you plug in your tester. I would start by checking it.
