Question Competition for Truck Pull?

I'm asking for opions on my 1980 F350 2WD. I'm thinking about doing some truck pulls and I was wondering what everyone thought. I know there are 2WD classes so let me tell you about the truck. Its got a 400 engine and a 4 speed tranny. Its got a heavy duty rear end that has a very low gear. This truck seems to have a lot of power to it and I think it could be a good one. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Beef up a 4 speed? Now how exactly does one go about THAT With either the T-18/19 or np 435 he isn't going to be breaking one anytime soon.

I've broke two input shafts on np435s, one twisted completely and the other one twisted so bad the clutch plate wouldnt come off. and that was with just a built 390 in my 76 f250. even though i was dropping the clutch at 5000 rpms in 4lo, 3rd gear at the mud drags.
