Hi, everyone. I've been a member here ever since I bought my 95 Ranger, which is only a couple of weeks ago, but I have learned so much from everyone. It's just awesome that there are so many people here willing to help with any little problem or service issue. Now, as you probably already know, there is a Category 5 hurricane, Ivan, headed towards the U.S. I live in extreme southeast Louisiana, which is in the projected path of this storm. It is expected to hit us or southern Mississippi tomorrow night. The damage will be catastrophic for someone, but we don't who that is, yet. There is a large degree of uncertainty of where this storm is likely to hit. We aren't evacuating becuase the evacuation traffic is just unreal. We heard that in 3 hours on the interstate, cars only moved 3.8 miles. We're gonna stick it out and pray for the best. Well, I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up about whats happening down here in Cajun-Country. So, please just keep us and everybody else that it affects in yall prayers and hope for the best.
Thanks!!!!
Something tells me that, after this week, you won't be hearing us Yankees complain about our cold, snowy winters for a long time to come............good luck and God bless. You're in all of our prayers.
Just heard the bouys in the gulf are reporting 36 foot waves every 13 seconds, Cat 4 winds 100 miles out all directions. I hope my vacation to Maryland isnt changed to a trip into New Orleans. Wouldnt it be nice if it just fell apart by morning.
Hell, galveston and the ship channel are getting it pretty good. We've got water backing up in the bayous here cuz the sea water is coming inland somewhat. Andrew aint got nothing on Ivan. The name is also very fitting for this storm, ivan the terrible, Russain Czar and mean hurricane
It Tropical Depression & soon to be Hurricane Jeane. Just entering the neighborhood of Puerto Rico. Currently thought to skate the Bahamas and Floridas east coast. Winds are currently 60mph steady.
Buddy of mine just moved the Mississippi/Louisiana border Friday. Here he is already thinking he has to make a trip back home to Texas.......he's gonna see what the noon report from the Hurricane Center is.....then decide.
I suggested he ride it out. Good story to tell, good adreneline rush.
I have two words for those of you in Ivan's path who are planning on riding the storm out. LEAVE NOW! ! ! !
If you do decide to stay in it's path, get yourself a Sharpie pen and write your name & SS # on various places on your body so that it's easier to identify you when the clean-up crews come in. This storm ain't messing around.
