Question turn signals

ok my turn signals are screwed up here is what there doing;

1) the right ones are working like a charm but

2) when you move the lever to the left side > the right back turn signal work and the left bed marker light comes on.

3)the front left turn signal works like a charm too,

next thing is

4) if you turn the park lights on...the turn and brake lights dont work on either side,

but

if you turn the left signal on when the park lights are on.......
the radio flashes like the turn signals.

so if you could follow along .... any help whould be great.

thanks by the way its a 77 f-100, 300 i6, 3 on tree, and no power anything

My son had a similar problem with his volkswagon fox. It turned out someone had put the wrong bulbs in the sockets. THey had put single element bulbs in double element sockets. when one of the two circuits was activated (either turn signal or parking lights) the single element bulb would short both circuits and cause strange problems. It sound like you have one bulb on the left side that is wrong.

There is a good tech article (link at top right of page) with step by step instructions on testing and repairing rear lights. Check it out.

F,
How long have you owned the truck?
Did they work fine last week and now this just started?
I can guess two things off the top of my head.
1. Your turn signal switch in the colunm is cracked. This can happen when a column bearing fails and the turn signal switch moves and is ground up by truning the staering wheel. this is usually apparent and obvious when it happens.
2. You have a trailer wiring harness that is spliced into your rear harness that has been pinched and is short circuiting your taillights and turn signals.
Just a guess,
KingFisher
