Trans Filter change
Trans Filter change
I just changed my external trans filter at 5,000 Mi. and it was black. I figured It was a cheap way to get rid of the break-in contaminants. If you decide to do it use an impact wrench 22 mm socket, because that sucker is tight. I tried using just a wrench and the filter bracket stated to bend. When I had my Duramax chevy the rep suggested changing that filter at 5,000 Mi, so I figured I would do my Torque shift. The filter was cheap through www.filter1.com

I purchased the SP from the dealer. I think that is the only place you can buy it. The price was about $4.50 a Qt.
When you install the new filter, push the the spring onto the bottom of the element and then push it onto the top mount. The filter will stay in place, which allows you to screw on the cover/housing. They give you a new O-ring with the filter.
