Hi all, I have a V10 Excursion, it's developed a mis, and it stumbles whenever there's load on the engine. I have changed the spark plugs and fuel filterbut it didn't improve any. Any ideas on what I should try to look into? Thanks
happened to my 2000 v 10 skipped/missed under load it was a coil. bring it to dealer all they have to do is hook it up to thier computer and find which one it is and replace it
Most likely is a coil, but I recently had an intermittent miss that was not the plug or the coil. (replaced both without success)
The problem was an injector connector that apparently developed some corrosion on the terminals. (I hose my engine every time the outside is washed.) A spray of electrical contact cleaner and several on/off cycles of the connector to the injector and she has been purring ever since. (Two weeks now.)
BTW, the scan tool read #9 cylinder misfire. When a coil is bad or disconnected, the scan tool will read "Coil I Failure." (Note: cylinder 1 is designated as letter A and #10 is J. #1 is front of engine on passenger side. #10 is rear of engine on driver's side.)
Take it to a dealer, pony up the $90 and have them scan it. I lost coil #8 @75,000 miles. They told me exactly which one. It's amazing that a v-10 will run like crap on 9 cylinders. If it is not a coil, the dealer should also be able to tell you also. I went ahead and replaced all 10 spark plugs while I was at it. That is a lot of fun. I think you get to #10 by removing the glove box.
