i just swapped a 351 for my stock 302. i changed the computer and plugged that back in and i plugged the engine harness into the computer. wen i turn the key switch, the truck turns on, but wen i go to start it at the key i get no response from the truck. someone please help
please clarify. no spark, or no response? no spark means that the starter turns the engine, but the plugs aren't firing. no response could be construed to mean that the starter does not try to turn the engine. Which is it?
i fixed the spark problem. but wen i turn the key the engine doesnt crank. i have to connect the points at the sollenoid.
wen i crank the engine at the sollenoid, to me it doesnt seem that the engine is spinning fast enough to turn over. could this be because i used the starter from the 302 and not the one from the 351?

I'm not the best person to answer this question, but from what I know of these setups, the 351 will need a more powerful starter... but the wiring should be the same at the key. There must be something in that computer that is disallowing the start. Are you sure that the wiring harness didn't need to change when you changed the computer? It could be as simple as something like that. I know that there are many sites dedicated to this swap. I'm sure one of them will have some good information for you. Sorry I couldn't help more
