Question 93 5.8 swap Accessory help

Hello
I am droping an 5.8 into my 93 ranger. It had an 3.0 originally, and I would like to keep the accessories, alt, ps, ac. and I would like to keep it serpintine.

I know I need to get a diffirent water pump, since the engine is out of a 74 gran torino and it was a v belt, but I am not sure if everything will match up.

Any ideas or anything would be appreciated

I would like to retain the original belt tensioner if possible and brackets, but if I have to get diffirent brackets, do I have to get diffirent accesories as well?

Thanks

Chris

You won't be able to keep A/C or serpentine belts. The block doesn't have provisions to mount a tensioner, and thats what keeps you from having reverse rotation.

You'll also need the alternator, ps pump and brackets, and steering box to make it work.

more questions

no luck finding a vehicle to pull parts

a few questions
the 351 is stroked and has an rv cam, non roller

can I

-use a 302 ecm?

-a 351w ecm?

-will both wire harnesses work from a 5.0 and a 5.8 vehicle?

-do I have to install a smog pump to use factory EFI?

-will factory efi work in a motor as modded as mine?

-can I pull accessories from a 302 mustang? (brackets timing cover, water pump, ps, alt, ac, so I can use a serp setup?

-Will I have to change the gear on the 351 efi distributor since I am using a non roller block?

thanks

Oh an using the stock heavy duty c-4 out of the 74 torino, so it has no computer hookups, will that create a problem?

I did manage to get a complete upper and lower intake with all the sensors and a throttle body off ebay (yay)

I hope it bolts to my 9.5 74 block

If the 351 is stroked then you need Mass air, 302 ecm definitely won't work and the 351 ecm probably won't either if it's SD. I know some might say they've used a 302 ecm with a 351 and stayed with SD but I'm sure they are running lean and that's not good(unless you like wondering when you're gonna finally burn that hole in your piston).
You can use either 5.0 or 5.8 wiring harness, if you use a 5.0 harness get rid of the knock sensor and PS pump pressure sensor(the 5.8 ecm doesn't care or even look at these parameters)
Nope you don't need the smog pump, if you get rid of it just remove all the thermactor piping while at it and plug the holes in the back of the heads while the motor is still out. Keep the O2 sensor though.
Not sure but I think you need truck brackets not stang,
If the dist came out of a roller motor originally then it should have a bronze gear on it. If so then you need to replace it with a steel gear. It looks like it's not a roller motor though so it shoud be fine. You can't use a 302 dist on a 351 the oil pump driveshaft hole is bigger on the 351(1/4" on the 302 and 5/16" on the 351)
With a c-4 trans you need to make sure you have an ecm for a 351/C6 or 351/Aod because teh ecm doesn't communicate with the trans. Just don't use one for an E4OD trans.
I know the older 351's had a different deck height than they do now but I don't remember what year it changed. The ones we use now are around 9.503" so if it's the other deck height then the intake won't work.

thanks

Anybody have any idea on brackets and accessories?

also, I have the stock 74 timing cover. Can I just put a block off plate on it, or do I need to put a diffirent timing cover on it?

Thanks

maf?

What year ford trucks came with MAF sensors?

I need to find an ecm with one to hook up to my 351w in my ranger
also, what year wire harnesses can I use, and out of what vehicles?
I would assume anything with a 302 or 351w in it.

Thanks
