Rear Brakes

The rear brakes will not stay adjusted. I have replaced all the hardware on the rear, still won't stay adjusted. If I adjust them up they are okay for a couple of days then back to nothing. Even had mechanic do the brakes to check my work, same result. Suggestions?

when you say adjusted..what exactly are they not doing? Your rear brakes aren't what stop you..the front do all the work with the rear being secondary braking. So what you might think isn't working correctly might actually be working.
One way i know to adjust rear brakes is to run the vehicle in reverse and hit the brake..do that a couple times and see what happens.

Jack the rear up off the ground jack stand under each side. Take the plug out of the backing plate. With the vehicle in neutral adjust each side until I feel them drag when spinning the wheel. I can get in start vehichle, put it in drive, hit the brake, they stop spinning. Drive vehichle a couople of days no rear brakes. Jack it up put on stand but in drive hit brake, continue to spin.

check your brake lines from beginning to end for a leak? Or the Proportioning Valve might be bad...follow the lines from the master cylinder down to where they screw into a block shaped thing..that's the Proportioning Valve* ..that controls the flow of fluid to the front and rear..that could be bad.

Are you sure you don't have the adjusters switched, they are different for each side?

yeah, like Ken said..it might be in on the wrong side..or it might be in backwards..the end cap on the adjuster will be marked with a L or R.
