Anyone have an idea for walls in my van? I think I will insulate with blue foam maybe 1" I need something to cover the foam **** rug went out in the 70's.
Depends a lot on how you plan to use your van. Having said that, there's much in favor of vinyl over hardboard (masonite). Vinyl is tough and easy to keep clean, and looks pretty good. Within vinyl, there are many options. Double pleat, single pleat, no pleat, padded, not padded, and various surface textures.
Vans with fake wood paneling have a dated 70s (60s?) look, IMHO, and look cheap.
If you choose vinyl, some research on adhesives and techniques would be in order. There are books on auto upholstery that could be very useful.
Good luck, and post some pics of your progress and end result.

I've got 1/4" ply, with a 1/8 foam on the walls in my van, they are then covered in a thin material much like what would be on a seat. It looks nice, and is very insulated. It was done by a conversion company. If you need to here options call the local interior shop and ask questions. If they are any kind of people at all they will tell you what is available and aproximate prices per yard usually.
Mine's pretty much the same setup as pfogle's.
1/4" ply with a Tweed fabric over it. It's an 86 Conversion.
Tweed is very durable, and is used quite a bit in the customs scene (mini trucks, full size trucks and vans).
