Exhaust system help
i have an 88 F150 4x4 5.0. im trying to figure out what the best exhaust set up for my truck is. i know i am going with the Edelbrock RPM catback system but i also want to use an H, X, or Y pipe and still keep it legal for inspection. what is the best way to go for my truck, X, H, or Y?

You don't need an x,h, or y pipe other than the stock one from the engine to the converter. The kit for your truck is single in dual out, now if you were getting true duals you might consider it but it would be somone else typing this too as I don't see a need for an x or any other letter pipe in a dual system because i think it sacrifices sound.

If you run true duals go with the x pipe, yes it cuts the sound, but not enough to notice, and in the end you will love it. The x combines pulses from both pipes and sends them to both tips, thus evening out your sound, and making it more effective in exhaust scavenging.
