hey fellow truckers,i have a 86 f 150 with a 302 ,the truck idles fine when in park are in nuetral,but when you put it in gear the truck idles rough and will not pull,any help would be appreciated ,thanks
I'm assuming you have EFI, so it sounds like your Throttle Position Sensor. If it's out of whack, it will affect idle quality, and tranny operation. Check for any codes to confirm this.
EGR valve or position Sensor could also be the culprit.
Surging idle when in neutral is a good indicator sometimes.
Clean the valve and make sure there are no vaccum leaks to the valve.
