RABS codes for 1st Gen EEC's???

I've seen references for pulling codes for rear anti-lock brakes...do any of these apply to older vehicles such as my 90 Ranger or 92 Explorer? It seems like all I can find is references to OBD II systems. (95 or newer)

Yes you can pull RABS codes on older vehicles. Haven't had to do it myself, but I've seen the procedure referenced in Haynes/Chiltons manuals. Basically consists of grounding the test wire on the RABS connector and the codes are output as flashes of the RABS light.
One thing, on these older RABS systems, there is no code storage in the computer. You have to pull the RABS codes while the RABS light is on without turning the key off.

Thanks...I'll give it a try for exercise. I've since found my fluid contaminated with water and other stuff and it looks like rust in the ports on the valve. I've flushed out the old fluid and I've still got to replace the valve assy. I never got the rabs light but the way the brakes felt (and wore out) it looks like I had no brake pressure to the rear brakes. It must have rusted and failed in the closed position.
