what transmissions will work
hi everyone. I need some info on my project. i have a 1986 mercury motor with automatic on it and i want to find a donor vehicle that has a standard tranny in it. i need to know what years or types of vehicle that will have what i need to do this. i am going to put the motor in my 1955 f100 truck so i need to know if a tranny out of a 1982 ford f150 4 speed will work. it has a 351 in it. what sizes of motors out there that have a standard tranny that would work on my motor. i need bellhousing and all.

Depends on what motor is in the Merc. I'm going on a limb and guessing it is probably a 302 or 351w. In that case, if the 351 in the truck was a Windsor, then it will work. You need to find out which motor families you are working with before we can go forward...
