Well, we did have a 90 shortie with a 3.0 and 5-speed...after changing the timing, and other misc garbage, including the ENTIRE ignition system...and still no fire...
Compression check shows Cyl #3 is dead, and # 4 only had about 75 PSI....at which point I gave up...looked around and priced a new engine, a used engine, and a rebuild...even if I did the R/R...and they were all cost prohibitive for that model, and rest of the work needed to it as well...
So we bought a 91 Extended XL with 4.0 and auto...119k miles, with new brakes, A/C, tires, front-end, starter, and rebuilt tranny...it has power everything, and everything works...
Is there anything on this van I should keep my eye open for, watching for any issues that may arise?

Hey maxwgn.
Just read my problems under AEROSTAR STARTING PROBLEMS I am not saying you will have all these problems but watch out for bad starting from run down batteries and check and clean all your big block wiring connectors above the engine once in a while it might save you the problems I have just had.
