air con problems
My 90 aerostars air con will work only after pushing the lever up to the top and then down again but then only works for a few mins then I have to move the lever up and down again to get it working.
every now and then it will work continuously but not very often.
What is behind the lever?
I live in england and have not got a manual or many garages that can help with my truck but now I have found this site I will drive you mad with problems because we are taking off for Spain in three weeks and I am trying to iron out all the small nigly probs. But I will say you certainly know how to build trucks....Its Great!

air con problems
If you are refering to the Selection lever (Defrost, Mix, OFF, Vent, AC and MAX), then two possibilities come to mind. 1. You have a vacuum leak. There are five different vacuum lines operated by this lever that open and close various vent doors. The main vacuum reservoir is located in the engine compartment, a plastic, tubular object about 2" diameter and 10" long. Start there checking for vacuum, loose connections, etc. 2. The A/C system may be low on charge and the low pressure switch is kicking it off after just a few minutes operation when needed pressures fail to materialize. Good Hunting!
